The battery discount steps down on 1 January 2027

The discount comes from certificates your battery earns, set by its usable size and the date it is installed.

6.8Certificates per kWhFor batteries installed up to 31 December 2026.
5.7From 1 January 2027The same battery earns fewer certificates, so a smaller discount.
14 kWhFull rate bandFull rate on the first 14 kWh, then 60% to 28 kWh and 15% to 50 kWh.

The discount is set by the installation date, not the day you sign. A 13.5 kWh battery works out to about 91 certificates if installed in December and about 76 from January. Certificate prices move, so we show the dollar figure on your quote. Rebates explained, with sources.

Last standard install day before Christmas: Friday 18 December. The battery discount is set by install date, not the day you sign. We may be able to fit in installs up to 23 December at extra cost. We are back on 11 January.

How a battery pays its way

Solar makes most of its power in the middle of the day, when many homes are empty. A battery stores that power for the evening, when you would otherwise buy it from the grid.

It can also keep essential circuits running in a blackout, if the battery and inverter support backup and they are wired for it.

Every battery quote includes

  • Switchboard and inverter checkIncluding whether backup is possible.

Already have solar?

Most homes can add a battery to an existing system. Whether it connects to your current inverter or needs a new one depends on its age and type. We check before quoting.

Straight answers

Ask us anything else. If it is not worth doing, we will say so.

Ask us a question

Am I eligible for the battery discount?

Most homes adding a new, approved battery qualify. The discount is applied by the installer through certificates, so it comes straight off your price. We confirm eligibility before quoting.

Will a battery keep my power on in a blackout?

It can, if the battery and inverter support backup and we wire your essentials to it. Not every setup does, so we tell you before you buy.

Which battery brands do you install?

Mostly GoodWe, Sigenergy and Sungrow, plus Tesla Powerwall 3. We recommend one to suit your home, your inverter and your budget, and explain why. Compare them side by side

What size battery do I need?

It depends on what you use after the sun goes down and how much solar you have. Bigger is not always better, especially as the discount reduces above 14 kWh.

Does the discount depend on when I sign?

No. It depends on when the battery is installed. That is why we book install dates before the step-down where we can.
